VAEH Legislative AlertJanuary 10, 2005 Dear opponents of legalizing physician-assisted suicide: Below are the emails and phone numbers of each member of the Vermont House Human Services (formerly Health and Welfare) Committee. Last week this committee was sent home with "weekend reading" of a copy of the VT Legislative Council report praising the Oregon PAS law. Meanwhile, the media has been all-too-obliging with coverage of a biased poll sponsored by the Vermont Death With Dignity people. In other words, the powers that be are trying to push this through! It's time for your voice, and the voices of your friends, to be heard. The representatives on this committee need to hear a simple message to this effect: "I do not support legalizing physician-assisted suicide and urge you to vote against it in committee." You may also choose to list your reasons. By all means, include your name and hometown. If you know any fellow opponents of physician-assisted suicide who live or work in S. Burlington, Lincoln, Jericho, Underhill, Bolton, Berkshire, Franklin, Highgate, Richford, Northfield, Moretown, Roxbury, Springfield, Randolph, Pittsfield, Bethel, Rochester, Stockbridge, Barre Town, Berlin, Barre, or Colchester, I urge you to send them these email addresses and phone numbers.
